Park assist and backover prevention systems use cameras and other sensors to help drivers avoid crashes during backing maneuvers. To help a driver see better when backing up, camera based systems use a display screen, usually on the center console or rear view mirror, to show what’s behind a vehicle. Some systems also may include lines to help guide the driver. Sensor based systems, detect objects behind a vehicle and warn the driver with audible or visual alerts. Some systems also detect approaching vehicles. These cross traffic systems may automatically apply the brakes to prevent a possible collision.
