O2 Business and McAfee give real world protection to marketing consultancy firm Coterie

O2 and AEG are both equally passionate about giving our
customers a great experience.
I’m David Jones. I’m senior vice president of
I.T. for AEG in Europe. AEG is a global venue
management sports and entertainment
company. We own and operate venues
across the world. Arenas, stadiums and music
theaters. At AEG we want to give our
customers a really great experience. And the O2 is more than just an
arena it’s an entertainment
destination. There is our entertainment
district which includes bars and restaurants and a multi
screen cinema. We have a retail outlet mall. There’s essentially something
for everyone here at the O2. So our vision is for the venue
to be the best venue on the planet for our
customers here. Everything from their arrival
at the venue buying food and drink, buying
merchandise, every part of the experience should be
great. Having great connectivity in
our venue is essential for our
fans. They might want to be able to
share the experience with
their friends on social media. They might want to use Wi-Fi to
be able to look up information about the artist that’s
performing or the sports team that’s here at the O2. And also for us as a venue, we
have the opportunity to interact with our fans
through mobile devices and so them having great
connectivity is an essential
part of that. There are a couple of reasons
why we’ve made the investment with O2 in O2
Wi-Fi. The first of those is that it
allows us to learn more about our customers. So when a customer joins the
Wi-Fi network at the O2 they register and they
can opt in to receive marketing from us. It helps us sell more tickets
in future and therefore grow the profitability of the
venue. Secondly we have a mobile app
here at the O2. And by having great
connectivity that mobile app is enabled and can drive
revenue as well. O2 to have been a partner with
us with AEG since 2007. So there’s a real sense of
trust and mutual understanding which makes
delivering these projects so
much easier. Delivering Wi-Fi at the O2 has
been a real team effort – a collaboration
between my technology team here at AEG
and O2’s Wi-Fi specialists. It’s quite tricky to get Wi-Fi
to work really well in the
venue. Part of the challenge is the
number of access points you
have to put in and you have to find the right
locations to install those access points and that’s where
O2 Wi-Fi’s expertise combined with the
sort of venue experience of my team worked
really well. Something that really excites
me is the feedback from fans saying that the
Wi-Fi was great or their experience in the
venue was great because their phone worked really
well. Both AEG and O2 are continuing
to invest in the great innovative
solutions which will make the experience of fans
coming to the O2 continue to be a great experience in
the years to come.
