Nest Product Installation with Kurtis

Nest Product Installation with Kurtis

Hey Kansas City. Kurtis with Bob Hamilton here. We’re at this lovely residence in Kansas City,
Missouri today to talk about how Nest can improve you and your home. Hi I’m Troy and I’m Kassie and we’re teachers
here in Kansas City and we’re getting ready to welcome our first child to our home. So we decided we needed a little more security
around here. Bob Hamilton came out about a year ago and
gave us a great price and great service on a new air conditioner and furnace. They were very responsive and very friendly
with customer service and their installers. So once we heard that Bob Hamilton was a Nest
Pro Elite Dealer, we decided to call them for our needs and we know that we really liked
the Nest brand and we really trust their products. Here we are today to talk about some of the
products that work with the Nest thermostat. Today we’ve got the Nest Protect. This is a carbon monoxide and smoke detector,
it’s going to let you know if there is anything going on with your home you should be aware
of. We’ve also got the indoor cam, also known
as the ‘nanny’ cam. We’ve got the outdoor cam that can let you
know if you have any intruders coming up to the front door, anyone trying to grab a package
from you. Then we also have the Google WiFi. What the Google WiFi does is, it’s going to
make their internet that much stronger so that everything can stay connected and know
what is going on with your home. This here is the Nest Protect. What’s nice about it is, it’s a carbon monoxide
and smoke detector in one. Normally you have two different pieces with
these, how often you guys replace or check your batteries? When it goes off. You’re supposed to replace them once a year,
you’re supposed to test it every six months. This thing actually tests itself once a week. So it will make a noise you will wonder what’s
going on. It’s just doing an audio check to make sure
it’s working and then this battery lasts ten years and it’s rated, it’s UL rated for 10
years as well. Where as the other one’s you have to replace
every 5 years, this thing you only have to replace it every ten. Okay, so this here is going to be your indoor
Nest camera. It’s nice because you can use it on a table
top, like that, and it will set up and you can set it up in front of your TV if you like. You can also use this mount to put it up higher
on the wall. That way you can get a better shot of the
whole room. You could use it for a baby cam, but it’s
not going to, your going to have to the app on your phone. So it’s more of a, I want to know if someone
is in the house, I want it to give me an alert type of deal. So you put it maybe in a major traffic area. This would actually be, right up here, a good
spot for it, because if you had anyone coming through the back door. You are going to be notified. Is it pretty easy to move around to different
places if you decide to do that or? Yeah, the easiest way to make it movable is
to just use the stand and not have the face plate. If you do know you want it somewhere up on
the wall. You can have the face plate there and you
can even say, we are going to move it back and forth from the kitchen to here and so
you can put the face plate in the kitchen and it can stay there, and then you can just,
cause the cord is just a USB right there, so you can just take it with you and then
you can pop it here and run it to your outlet. Does it pick up sound? It does pick up sound. So does it alert, like if you hear the sound
on your phone it’s going to alert you? Yes, you can do noise alerts and you can also
do motion alerts. So it’s up to you. Your camera that you have outside is actually
the Smart Cam. So it has got facial recognition. So it will actually pick up on people’s faces
and if your going by it and you have your phone on you. It knows that your phone is near the house
so it is likely you despite the camera, but it might pick up your sister and it will show
you and say, do you know this person? You can say yes or no and it learns who know
and who you don’t. So if you have grand parents coming over to
see the baby, it’s not going to tell you, you have an intruder. If you have the same mail man that comes every
single day, and you say yes that’s my mailman, it’s not going to say he’s an intruder. However if you have a FedEx guy that’s never
been to your house before, it’s going to say you have an intruder. Alright, so this is your Google WiFi and what
this thing is going to do is plug into your modem and it’s going to eliminate any slow
spots that this thing might be creating, because this has been used in other houses before,
so this thing is going to project a WiFi network throughout your house. It’s going to do a few things for you, it’s
going to allow you, it’s going to search for the fastest channel of internet that AT&T
is providing and it’s going to make sure it jumps on that so the speeds are going to jump. Also if you have guests come over, it’s going
to allow you to give them access to your WiFi and then when they leave it takes it away,
so you don’t have to worry about them coming back and using your internet. It’s pretty simple, we’re just going to plug
it in to your modem and we are also going to plug it into your wall and we will just
set it up through your phone. Well thanks for joining us today. That’s all that we have to go over today about
Nest and the connected home. If you have any other questions feel free
