Homeland Security search warrants lead to undocumented immigrants detained, Stillwater police say

PERRIS: I LEARNED TO THE PEOPLE
WHO WERE BROUGHT HERE WERE
DETAINED BUT THE MAJORITY WHO
WERE NOT RELEASED ARE IN FEDERAL
CUSTODY TONIGHT. EMPTY PARKING LOTS AND CLOSED
SIGNS IS WHAT YOU’LL FIND AT
PALOMINO’S AND EL VAQUERO TODAY.>>POLICE SAY EVERYBODY PUT YOUR
HANDS UP. PERRIS: AGENTS EXECUTED FEDERAL
SEARCH WARRANTS FOR WHAT THEY
SAY WAS A CRIMINAL
INVESTIGATION.>>SCARED ME. I STARTED HAVING A PANIC ATTACK. PERRIS: EMPLOYEES AT A LOSS FOR
WORDS.>>WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO, I
MEAN EVERYBODY IS GONE, THERE’S
NO WAY TO KEEP THIS RUNNING
WITHOUT THEM. PERRIS: STILLWATER POLICE SAYING
TODAY THEY WORRY THIS WILL LEAD
TO UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS BEING
AFRAID TO TALK WITH THEM. BUT THEY WANT TO REMIND THE
COMMUNITY THEY PROVIDE THE SAME
LEVEL OF SERVICE AND RESOURCES
TO UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AS
THEY WOULD ANYONE ELSE. AN IMMIGRATION LAWYER FOR A
PERSON WHO WAS DETAINED TELLING
US TODAY ANYONE WHO WAS RELEASED
BUT UNDOCUMENTED STILL FACES
DEPORTATION EVEN IF THEY HAD
NOTHING TO DO WITH CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION. HE TOLD ME SOME OF HIS CLIENTS
NOW AT THE MERCY OF REMOVAL
PROCEEDINGS AT AN UNSPECIFIED
TIME IN THE FUTU

  1. I'm from Oklahoma and those restaurants should hire legal immigrants, because they are not paying illegal immigrants the minimum wage and they are making money by breaking the law.
