Hi, my names Collin Gibb. I live in Fort Wayne
Indiana and I am FrontPoint. This is my story. I live in a house with my wife, two kids,
and a dog. I tend to travel for a few days at a time and of course we go on vacation
periodically, so I really like the peace of mind FrontPoint Security system gives me both
when we’re here, when we’re away, and when I’m away, and when my family is at
home. The security system that I have implemented
takes care of security, fire, carbon monoxide, lighting control, as well as temperature control.
Let’s take a look at the system. Firstly the Control Panel is located here, in the
master bedroom. This allows us to arm the system at night and see the status of the
system at a glance. If a door is open or if there are any problems it will be apparent
before closing the house up at night. It also allows us to disarm the system in the morning
as we’re opening the windows and preparing for the day.
I’m using the Simon3 rather than the new XT panel, as I have X10 components integrated
with the system as well as control the monitor with that.
All of the other side lights are controlled by X10 controllers which allows them to tie
into the system, turn the lights off automatically in the morning and on automatically in the
evening. It’s also set so that if an alarm is every triggered, all of the outside house
lights will flash rapidly which will obviously enable either police, or medical, or fire
to get here and find the house a lot quicker. This will announce some activity such as the
opening of doors and we can use voice talk to confirm the arming and disarming of the
system. This allows us to arm the house when we leave, and disarm it quickly when we come
home. We also have a single key fob remote that
my wife keeps on her as it lets her easily disarm the system with an arm load of groceries
and a child in arms when she comes home. As you can see, this room’s back wall is
all window and this motion sensor is aimed so it’ll trigger if any of those windows
sense motion when it’s armed.
