Gabe Turner: Hey, folks. This is Gabe with
Security Baron. Today we’ve got a new player in the game with the eufy and the eufyCam
E. Let’s check it out. [music] Gabe: I’m excited to check out the eufyCam
E, a camera that claims to have 365 days of battery life on just one charge. Before that,
I’m going to put it through the Security Baron Necessary Features test before diving into
its mobile applications so you’ll have all the information you need to make the right
decision. [background music] Gabe: If you would like to see list of our
favorite home security cameras, google “Security Baron best home security cameras.” If you
have a question about today’s review, leave us a comment, and I’ll get back to you. Let’s put the eufyCam E to the Security Baron
Necessary Features test. Here at Security Baron, we think that every home security camera
should have stellar video quality, two-way audio, night vision, local and cloud storage,
smart platform integration, artificial intelligence, convenience, and value. Stellar video quality is a Security Baron
Necessary Feature. Here, it comes through strong, the eufyCam E, with its 1080p high-definition
video and 140-degree field of view. It’s really capturing everything taking place on your
property. On top of that, you can digitally zoom by
just pinching your fingers on both a live stream and your recording, so you can really
know what’s going on, on your property. When it come to the Security Baron Necessary Feature
of stellar video quality, we’re giving the eufyCam E full marks. Two-way audio is a Security Baron Necessary
Feature. Fortunately, the eufyCam E has a microphone and a speaker, so you’re going
to be able to hear and speak to whatever is going on in the vicinity of the camera. When
it come to the Security Baron Necessary Feature of two-way audio, we give the eufyCam E full
marks. Night vision is a Security Baron Necessary
Feature. You want to be able to see what’s taking place in the dark and fortunately,
eufyCam E is up to the task. It has two high-powered infrared LEDs that allows you to see clearly
whatever is taking place in the dark. When it come to the Security Baron Necessary
Feature of night vision, we’re giving the eufyCam E full marks. [music] Gabe: Local and cloud storage is a Security
Baron Necessary Feature, and fortunately, the eufyCam E provides both. In the home base,
you get a 16-gigabyte microSD card included, so you can save all your clips locally. That
can be upgraded to up to 128 gigabytes. Now, when it comes to cloud storage, things
get a little bit more complicated. In fact, it isn’t entirely clear how you can set up
the cloud storage. You definitely can’t do so directly from the app. We had to write
eufy to ask them the process because it’s not really googleable, it’s not really clear
from the app or even the website initially. They wrote to us saying to go to our profile,
use the drop-down menu, and sign in to eufy security. From there, you can subscribe to
a basic storage plan. For example, for just $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year. That gives
you 30 days of cloud storage for one camera. If you’d like a full breakdown of how to set
up your eufy cloud storage plan and the plans that they have available for you to opt into,
check it out at securitybaron.com. Despite the challenging nature of setting up a cloud
storage with the eufyCam E, we’re still going to give it full marks for local and cloud
storage. [background music] Gabe: Hold on, wait. I hope you’re enjoying
our review of the eufyCam E. If you’d like to see more like this in terms of smart home
security cameras, smart home security systems, and just smart home security in general, subscribe
to our channel. We’re dropping new content weekly. All right. Let’s get back to the video. Smart platform integration is a Security Baron
Necessary Feature. If you are an Amazon Alexa fan, you’re in luck that eufyCam E integrates
with Amazon Alexa and you’re ready to go. If you’re someone in the Google Assistant
ecosystem, you may have to wait a little bit longer as eufy says that they will have a
firmware update in the future that allows one to integrate with Google Assistant. Either
way you cut it, when it comes to smart platform integration and the eufyCam E, we give it
full marks for smart platform integration. Artificial intelligence is a Security Baron
Necessary Feature. It usually refers to person detection, package detection, vehicle detection,
or even facial recognition. Now, the eufyCam E does not have any artificial intelligence.
It’s not going to be able to detect a package at your house or your best friend Bob coming
to the door. When it comes to artificial intelligence and
the Security Baron Necessary Features tests, you have to give the eufyCam E zero marks. [music] Gabe: Convenience is a Security Baron Necessary
Feature. Convenience pretty much refers to the installation and everyday use of your
home security camera. With the eufyCam E it’s kind of a three step process. You’re going to want of course download the
mobile application, which will help guide you through the rest of the installation process.
From there you plug in your home base both to the power and to your router with an Ethernet
cable that comes included. Once the home base is installed and grown through its firmware
update, you’re going to want to add device. You add the device with the eufyCam. Here’s where you come to basically apart in
the roads because you can decide to mount it physically on the indoor magnetic mount
or thread it and hang it up outside with the outdoor security mount. That is an amazing
option in itself because it is a wire free camera. You don’t have to worry about running
a cord back inside because eufy says that this camera will get up to a year on one battery
charge. Remains to be seen if it’ll actually get that
for you, but still an impressive element nonetheless. When it comes to convenience and the eufyCam
E we’re giving it full marks. Value is a Security Baron Necessary Feature.
When we look at the price of the eufyCam E, the two-camera kit came in at $315.99 while
the one-camera kit came in at $237.99. That might be a bit of a sticker shock but remember
it’s actually pretty well priced in the market for similar cameras because it is a wireless
indoor and outdoor camera. It’s weatherproof. You can stick it wherever
you’d like, inside, outside. That plays directly into the second element is that its battery
lasts, reportedly, up to a year. You can basically set it anywhere and then just forget about
it. Overall, when we look at value as a Security Baron Necessary Feature, we have to give it
full marks. Now that we’ve put the eufyCam E to the Security
Baron Necessary Features test, let’s check out its mobile application. You want any experience
on a mobile app for a home security camera to be intuitive and consistent because here
is where you’re mainly going to be interfacing with your home security camera. If you look at the Google Play Store, people
seem to be enjoying their experience. It has four out of five stars there. In the Apple
App Store, it gets 4.3 out of 5 stars. Let’s go ahead and check it out on my iPhone X. [music] Gabe: Here I am looking at our eufyCam E in
the eufy security mobile application. Let’s jump straight into looking at what’s going
on in our page. It’s always trash day in New York. You’ll note that even though I tapped
on it, it does take a moment to get going. This time took less than five seconds. You
can see there’s the mail person. You have a car. You can capture a lot because you have
that 140-degree view, which is pretty impressive in terms of field of view. It’s capturing
most of this New York City block. If I look on the bottom, you have a host of
options. You can record directly to your phone. I tap there. You can record. If I were to
hit on the microphone, I could speak directly to whoever’s on the other side of that camera.
I can take pictures by clicking on the scissors and those too save to my phone’s album. I could even turn on the sound if I wanted
to hear. If you look on the far right that says settings, I can change night vision,
the color, a few different options. I want to note that we are looking at this vertically
in portrait mode, but I can switch this to landscape mode if I wanted to. Let’s go ahead and check out other elements
of the app now that we’ve seen this live stream. If you click on the middle, you have events.
You can look at various events. You’ll note that there’s a cloud signature beside all
of these because I’ve been saving them into the cloud. If I wanted to switch it, I click on the upper
right-hand corner. You see here that there’s different options. There’s local and cloud.
I can click on local. I can click on cloud. There’s various options. Let’s click on security,
and that is in the far right-hand bottom corner. You see that there’s three modes. You got your home mode, your away mode, and
your schedule, which means you can have the camera working dependent on your schedule.
You can have an always away mode or you can have a home mode. Overall, I like it. It’s straightforward.
It’s not too complicated, granted it’s maybe not the most intuitive of mobile applications,
but it definitely gets the job done for me and my eufyCam E. Here’s the eufyCam E looking outdoors. You’ll
note the first thing you see, as one often sees first in New York, there’s trash. You
also see that beautiful tree on the left side. It has 140-degree field of view. You’ll note
that someone has come into view on the right side of the screen. You can watch them walk about half of a city
block. It’s a pretty impressive view with the eufyCam E of the outdoors. Lookie here.
We’ve got the eufyCam’s night vision. It’s pretty strong. You can make me out pretty
well. I’m about five feet away in this pretty dark room. You’ll note that it has two infrared LEDs,
yet it’s still capturing a lot of what’s going on. I’m ultimately a fan of the two high-powered
infrared LEDs on the eufyCam E and its crisp, clear night vision. [music] Gabe: Let’s review how the eufyCam E performed
on the Security Baron Necessary Features test. Stellar video quality, full marks. The eufyCam
E comes with 1080p high-definition video and 140-degree field of view, so it can capture
everything going on, on your property. Two-way audio, full marks. The eufyCam E comes
with a mic and speakers, so you can talk and hear whatever’s going on in the vicinity of
your eufyCam E. Night vision, full marks. The eufyCam E comes with two high-powered
infrared LEDs that allow you to see a clear picture of what’s going on in the dark. Local and cloud storage, full marks, with
the reservation that there’s a little bit of confusion around setting up cloud storage.
Smart platform integration, full marks. The eufyCam E is primed and ready for Amazon Alexa
and hopes to integrate Google Assistant in an upcoming firmware update. Artificial intelligence, zero marks. The eufyCam
E does not come with person package or vehicle detection, let alone facial recognition. It
has no artificial intelligence. Convenience, full marks. The setup and everyday use of
the eufyCam E is simple and straightforward. Value, full marks. While it is a bit spendy,
the feature set and functionality of the eufyCam E makes it a good value for the price. We’ve finished our first rodeo with the eufyCam,
the eufyCam E, and you’re wondering is this right for me. Well, if you’re looking for
a long battery life with its reported one year off of a single charge or if you’re just
looking for a camera you can place outside and not worry about the element, then the
eufyCam E is probably right for you. However, if you’re someone looking for free
cloud storage or artificial intelligence, you’re going to look at other cameras out
there on the market today. With that being said, I do have to say, for me personally,
I think it’s a pretty good value. It’s convenient. Ultimately, I had fun using the eufyCam E. I like the vision. I like the mobile application.
I think it is definitely a solid choice for an indoor or outdoor security camera. [background music] Gabe: That concludes our review of the eufyCam
E. If you appreciate today’s video, give us a like and hit that “Subscribe” button. As
